Generation Z : born 1997-2012: current age 27 -12

Gen Z is the first generation to grow up entirely in the digital age with technol-
ogy and social media. At a click of a few buttons they have always had access to
differing voices and perspectives. This has resulted in their values of diversity,
inclusivity, and social responsibility.

How Gen Z may fit in Toastmasters - Our youngest generation is still evolving
and coming into their own. My personal prediction is that they will rediscover
the values of meeting in person, networking and having real connections rather
than following social media influencers. Currently, most will benefit from the
mentoring of older Toastmasters and older Toastmasters will benefit from their
new perspectives.

Understanding the Generations from Traditionalists to Gen Z can help tailor
messages to draw new members. It can also help us better meet the needs of the
members we already have and tap into their particular skill set. Embrace the di-
versity and the values and skills each generation brings.
