nie Shaw —Division G Member of the Month
Bonnie joined the Encouraging Words Club in August of this
year. Like many other Toastmasters, Bonnie was very nervous
about her first few club experiences. "The club made me feel
very welcome" Bonnie stated, "I felt encouraged and
immediately participated in table topics and did my ice breaker."
Her growth from there has been remarkable; week after week
there is always a club member who notes how much she is
growing. Recently, after several years of not having a job, Bonnie
interviewed for and was selected to work at Church and Dwight.
Bonnie noted that her experience in the Encouraging Words
Club gave her the confidence to speak up to tough questions in the interview when she might have
just taken a passive approach in the past. She was able to speak up about her past experience, which
has lead to increased responsibility on the machine line. Toastmasters has helped Bonnie Shaw to find
her voice. Way to go Bonnie!

Robert George Alexander Metke, President of Early Words Toastmasters, passed away on
October 24, 2014 at the age of 90. Robert was a committed Toastmaster for 56 years and
interest in everyone. He was eager to listen, learn and
participate in a new venture.
Robert was instrumental in creating the District
7 Happy Birthday video for Early Words. The
members of his club wished to honor his memory by sharing the uncut
version of his video with the rest of his Toastmasters family. His love
of life, leadership, and sense of humor will be greatly missed. The
club’s tribute to Bob can be viewed on youtube.
