ision B Members Congregate at Community Events. . .
The Area 34 Humorous Speech and Table Topics contests were hosted by the Coast Toasties Club in
Reedsport on Saturday, October 4. At least one contestant from each of the three clubs (Reedsport,
Florence, Newport) became eligible to move up to the Division Contests that were held on 10/25.
On 10/18, Siuslaw Tale Spinners held a Pot Luck Lunch at the Honeyman State Park Meeting Yurt for
current and former members. The food and desserts were delicious, Table Topics was a fun activity,
and a great time was had by all.
On 11/1, Area 34 held a successful Listening and Evaluation Workshop in Florence facilitated by Eric
Winger, President, Feedbackers Toastmasters, and the 2014 D7 Evaluation Champion. Twelve central
coast Toastmasters and 10 guests attended. One guest was in awe of the quality of the workshop and
commented that workshops of this caliber in the business
world typically charge hundreds of dollars. Eric is to be
commended on the quality of his presentations.
Eric's interactive workshop addressed two areas of speech
expression, vocal variety and body language, that can
easily be evaluated to determine if they enhance or detract
from the authenticity. Vocal variety was broken down into
volume, rate, pitch, and pause. Body language was also
broken down into eyes, face, body, and stage. Toastmasters felt they learned better observation,
listening, evaluation, and feedback skills to help fellow members improve their presentations. Guests
commented that this workshop was invaluable in giving them new skills for the workplace and in life.
There was lively discussion and feedback from both members and audience.
Tale Spinner Spins Tale for Toastmasters Birthday Video
Toastmasters video to District 7. Alan, who regularly films
the city of Florence and Dunes City Council Meetings,
took on this special project to complete his last
requirement for the CL award.
