Doodle Magic!

Summer Bird is a member of Toasting Excellence. Her fellow
club member Lyle Schellenburg says she is a fun member of the
club. She is also a serious member and has completed her 1st path.
She is a story teller.
Tell us about Summer
Life is always busy. I regularly post
short stories and cartoons on my website,
summerbirdstories.com, and every few months
I sell some of my cartoons. To both inspire and Author, illustrator, cartoonist, tell us
distract myself, my six children all do a number about your work
of activities for school, church, and work. I I write short stories that explore the vast
volunteer as a co-chair for the Salem chapter of expanse of my own imagination, and I love
Willamette Writers (a non-profit group that seeks to doodle. My doodling magically morphed
to help local authors build their community, into cartoons just over two years ago. I get my

concerts. I sit and scribble as I listen.
Luckily, I currently have four in choir
and orchestra so I generate lots of
ideas.
Right now, I’m at that point in my
creative career where I’m finally brave
enough to send things to more places
and gather more rejections. It’s part
of the process, but I much prefer it
when something actually sells.
I like what I do, and I think I’m
getting better at it. I enjoy trying new
things. Lately, I’ve been working on
YouTube videos where I tell one of
my stories while I paint a watercolor
