And the Winners Are. . .

As is the tradition of Voices! with District 7’s Contest
Champions, I cornered this year’s 1st place winners of the
Speech Evaluation and International Speech Contests and
asked them to share a bit about themselves with our readers.
Below are their responses to a few pointed questions.
Alexis Mason, DTM
Speech Evaluation Champion
Alexis grew up on a self-sustaining family
farm a few miles north of Camas, Washington,
and just north of Lacamas Lake. She only knew
what it was like to have two full-time parents,
together for all their meals and with a mom and
dad who loved to tell stories and told them well.
She shared that her childhood was idyllic,
with baby animals to play with in the barn, a
horse of her own from age eleven on, and the
opportunity through 4H to serve as a Clark
County Fair Princess when she was 16.
Alexis says that her college years at the
University of Puget Sound in Tacoma were
fabulous. She received Honors at Entrance and
pledged to the Delta Delta Delta sorority. Both of
