Clock is Ticking. . .

Phyllis Harmon, DTM—District Governor

Have you noticed that as deadlines approach time speeds up? Does time
physically move faster as we hurry to get everything accomplished? Or is it
that we are hyper-aware that time is passing and we have very little of it
left to complete our goals? For me, the year's deadlines are approaching at the speed of a
freight train and my goals for you are not yet accomplished.
At time of publication, there are 5 weeks left in this Toastmasters year. My goal is for us to once
again achieve Distinguished District recognition as we did two years ago. I want you to be
applauded and recognized by the Toastmasters world as one of the select who achieved their
goals. Why? Because it’s a measure of how well you are doing. When you submit your
educational awards, renew your membership, or join another club, I know that your needs, the
reasons you joined Toastmasters, are being met. That you find value in what you are doing.
The current reports from Mike Raffety show that we are VERY close to meeting our goals!

There are 9 clubs who have not submitted dues. We only need 8 to meet our paid clubs goal.
This goal is almost within grasp. All a club has to do is submit dues for at least 8 members to
be counted.
Membership goals? This is the easiest one of all! Membership payments don't necessarily
mean that you must recruit new members to your club, it could mean that 11% of us commit to
stepping outside the four walls of our home clubs and become dual members. Becoming a
dual member increases your opportunity to practice, receive other perspectives on your
presentations, be a club officer, and grow beyond your expectations!
Do you have completed manuals ready to submit to Toastmasters International? Remember
that 6 of the 10 Distinguished Club goals center around educational awards. Are you
supporting your club in meeting its educational goals?
Time is running out. The clock is ticking, and the end of the year is rushing towards us. Will we
once again be a Distinguished District? YES—WE CAN DO THIS! I am counting on you to make
it happen!
