Jan Diamontine—Division B Member of the Month

“Jan was one of our very first members and continues to play a crucial role in the Lebanon Oregon
Toastmasters (L.O.T.) over a year later. Our first contest winner and a perennial officer, Jan has persevered
and remained committed to Toastmasters despite repeated
obstacles. I do not want to get in to discussing her personal and family
matters, but Jan went through two family tragedies in the past year. After
having to leave to see to her family after the last accident, Jan had
confessed to the Executive Board of our club that she felt that she had to

resign because she couldn't live up to the position. We all expressed our
concern & appreciation and assured her that she was doing a
great job. That encouragement kept her on board despite her worries
and she has been a dynamo ever since! She is now our VP of Education
and has completely transformed our role-assignment process and agenda setting. We used to scramble
right before meetings and now she is determined to get to the three- week schedule Toastmasters
International recommends! All of the L.O.T. Officers play a crucial role, but Jan's efforts in her new position
have given our club consistency and momentum. I do not hesitate to say that our club's positive trend is
due substantially to Jan Diamontine and that is why I am proud to nominate her for the Member of the
Month.” Wyatt King, Treasurer, Lebanon Toastmasters
“Jan has taken on many roles for our Toastmasters club and has excelled in her leadership role as VP
Education.” Jeannie Davis
Other honored nominees for September were:

Jim Perry, Siuslaw Tale Spinners, was nominated because he was untiring in working to have the

club achieve President's Distinguished. This also helped Division B earn Distinguished Division for the
2013-2014 Toastmasters International year.
Cathy French, Siuslaw Tale Spinners and Coast Toasties, was nominated by both her clubs. Cathy
started her Toastmaster career in Nevada before moving to Oregon. While in Nevada, she earned her
CC, CL, and ALB. Cathy is currently a member and officer of both the Coast Toasties Toastmaster Club
in Reedsport as well as the Siuslaw Tale Spinners in Florence. She participated in International Speech
Contest and the Evaluation Contest; Finished second in the Area 34 Evaluation Contest; Attended
District 7 Conference as a Coast Toasties representative; and Attended District training seminars in
Wilsonville, OR. In her first year as VP-PR, Cathy established a Coast Toasties Facebook website page
and Linkedin group page. She also wrote a number of public relations articles for the Umpqua Post
newspaper. As the reader can note, Cathy is a very involved Toastmaster and dedicated to spreading
the attributes of Toastmasters to others. Cathy is currently a member and officer of both the Coast
Toasties Toastmaster Club in Reedsport as well as the Siuslaw Tale Spinners in Florence. Cathy started
off her first full year with the Florence Tale Spinners by accepting the nomination for VP-ED, the most
complex position in Toastmasters. She developed a quarterly assignment schedule as well as a
synopsis of where members stand in their pursuit of educational and leadership awards.

Lois Kent, Symantec Toastmasters, brought together the Officers and ran an Officers training during
work so that the group could meet the club goals.
Terry Liittschwager, Lunch Bunch Toastmasters, is so helpful and knowledgeable and a great
speaker as well. We learn a lot from him.
