Make Your Next Speech Hot, Hot, Hot!

You’re passionate and have a
burning desire to speak to an

audience. This often occurs
when there is an open speaking
slot, and you have a spark of an
idea that could easily become

an impassioned hot-seat speech.
But what if your date with
destiny is fraught with doubts of
imperfection? Great! It wouldn’t be a

hot-seat speech if you were prepared.
Remember, courage is easy when
there is no risk. Like love, bravery is
only found when you take a chance to

test your mettle. If you're ready to make
your speech hot, here’s some ideas to
really make it sizzle.

Choose a relatable topic

Anxiety often increases when
volunteering at the last minute to give
a hot-seat speech. But just because your

speech is unpracticed, doesn’t mean you
can’t have a relatable topic. Begin by
asking yourself what you are passionate
about that could interest your audience.

What is easy to discuss with your friends
and family? What is engaging for them?
That’s your topic. For example, perhaps
you love your dog, but your slippers are

constantly being chewed up by him.
