On October 22 , 2014 Toastmasters International will be 90 years old. One constant has
been evident over the years is the need for clubs to operate at “charter strength” –
twenty or more members. Only then will the club reach its potential, and be most
beneficial to its members. Because of attrition each club must have a constant influx of
new members.
To encourage clubs to make every effort with member
recruitment and retention we are kicking off Operation Charter Strength. This is
a Division competition. The first Division whose clubs all reach the status of
Distinguished or better will be the winner. This competition will run from October
1, 2014 – June 30, 2015. The winning Division will be announced on July 1st. The
reward will be a special September workshop that will come to the location of
the winner’s choice. The workshop will be led by Gary Schmidt, DTM, Past
International President, Toastmasters. Depending on availability, other presenters
could be World Champions of Public Speaking Darren LaCroix, and Ryan Avery;
Cathey Armillas, Eric Winger, James Wantz, and Tom Cox. Topics to be included

This one of a kind workshop will be created just for the winning Division. All of
your members will be invited to attend. How do you get started? If your club has
not already done a Club Success Plan then that is your first step. Think of it like
eating an elephant. It’s easy, if you do it one bite at a time. Inspire your members
to set some stretch goals. Make it a game and reap the rewards.

Clubs Earn Rewards
The following clubs were the first five to submit dues for their base or twenty members. Each club has earned
a DVD of their choice created by Randy Harvey and Ryan Avery, District 7’s own World Champions of Public
Speaking.
